Can I Have a Free Consultation Before Starting Counselling?

Many therapists offer a free initial consultation, giving you the chance to ask questions, talk about what you're looking for and decide whether working together feels like the right fit.

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you've never spoken to a therapist before. It's natural to wonder what the first conversation will be like or whether you'll know if you've found the right person.

A free initial consultation gives you the opportunity to find out.

Rather than beginning therapy straight away, many counsellors offer a short introductory call where you can talk about what's brought you to counselling, ask practical questions and get a sense of how it feels to speak together. There's no pressure to have everything worked out or to make a decision during that conversation.

The relationship between you and your counsellor is one of the most important parts of therapy. Feeling comfortable, listened to and accepted can make a real difference, so it's worth taking the time to find someone who feels like the right fit for you.

At Pebbleshed Therapy, I offer a free initial 20 minute consultation because I believe it's important that you have the opportunity to ask questions and decide whether you'd feel comfortable working with me. I'll also explain how I work, what online counselling involves and answer any practical questions you might have.

If you're thinking about starting counselling but would like to talk things through first, you're warmly invited to book a free initial 20 minute consultation. It's an opportunity to meet, ask questions and see whether working together feels like the right fit for you.
